Secondary Education in Singapore

The  secondary education  system in  Singapore  has been  critically  acclaimed  by the educationists  from across the  world. Education is given top most priority in Singapore.  The country has a  wonderful educational  system. Though the  country has earned  reputation as  a center  for  advanced  learning in southeast Asia, school education in this  city  state  is also of high  quality.  Especially the curricular of the secondary schools in Singapore have become quite popular among the young international student. Many foreign students are admitted in the secondary schools in Singapore.  However, such admissions are subject to availability of seats. 

The secondary schools in Singapore are of three types they be funded  by the government, government aided or independent. In the secondary schools in Singapore the students attend four or five years of secondary education. These  students  attend different courses which include special, express or normal Course.  In the special and express courses the students are  trained  for the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Ordinary' (GCE 'O') Level examination.  It takes four years.  Those students who are in  normal  course  can  opt  for the  academic or  technical stream.  each  of these streams  prepare the students for the  Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Normal' (GCE 'N') Level examination which  is  held after four years of study.  After successful completion od the level the students can sit for the GCE 'O' Level examination in the fifth year.

The curriculum in the   secondary education of Singapore includes a variety of subjects. The subjects include mother tongue, mathematics, science and humanities.  At Secondary 3, students can opt for electives of their choice. However the choice depends on whether they are in the arts, science, Commerce or Technical stream. thus  the  students  can  have a great  studying  experience  at the  secondary schools  in Singapore.
